ACCREDITATION

What CITE Accredits

CITE accredits independent institutions that provide biblical, theological, and ministry education, including Bible institutes, schools of ministry, Bible colleges, seminaries, and Christian universities. Institutions may deliver instruction in person, online, or in a hybrid format.

Eligibility

To apply for CITE accreditation, an institution must:

Be legally organized and in good standing in the state or country where it operates.
Affirm CITE's Statement of Principles.
Have a published mission statement, academic policies, and program information available to students.
Have enrolled students in at least one program.
Agree to CITE's Guidelines for Ethical Practice.

Accreditation Decisions

Following review, the Accreditation Commission may:

Grant Accreditation: The institution meets CITE's standards.
Defer a Decision: Additional information or improvements are needed before a final decision.
Grant Accreditation with Probation: The institution is accredited but must correct specific concerns within a set timeframe.
Deny Accreditation: The institution does not currently meet CITE's standards and may reapply after addressing the concerns identified.

Accreditation Status

CITE is a private, non-governmental accrediting organization. CITE accreditation is not recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and does not confer eligibility for federal financial aid or state licensure.
